Tom Adair Gets First Win of 2005

at Arlington-Parks

The Texas Putting tour started the second half of the season at the tough Arlington-Parks course. The first round saw Lee Messinger jump to an early two stroke with a nine under 27 in the first round. Tom Adair was the only other player to break thirty in the first round shooting a seven under 29 and sitting alone in second place. In the second round Tom Adair took control of the event shooting the best round of the day at ten under 26, his two round total of 17 under 55 gave him a two stroke lead over Lee Messinger with Gary Reed the only other player within seven strokes of lead sitting in third four back of Tom. A front nine six under in the last round sealed the win for Tom and he eased in over the final nine for a three round total of 23 under 85 to give him a four stroke victory. Gary Reed moved up to second place and a final nine holes of one over par by Lee dropped him back to third. The win also gave Tom his first state spot of the year. Additional spots went to Joel Baker and Mike Baldoza in match play competition.

The amateur division would see a two man competition for the all three rounds. Steve Willmann and Bertz Ferguson would shoot the exact same scores for the first two rounds. Their two round total of 14 under 58 would leave them four clear of the nearest competitor. The last round would see Steve pull away from Bertz finishing three strokes ahead at 19 under 89 for the three rounds. Bertz got some consolation as his second place finish gave him an automatic state spot. Additional spots went to Rob Martin and Mike Huckaby in match play competition.
